What size AllSun Tracker is right for me?

Efficiency First

Before you invest in any renewable energy system, we suggest that you first make your home or business as energy efficient as possible. It doesn't make sense to pay for a system that is larger than you need. By decreasing the amount of electricity your home uses, you'll increase the percentage of electricity offset by your renewable energy system. There are many ways to decrease your electricity use - installing compact fluorescent lighting, air sealing around your windows and doors, weatherizing your attic and crawl spaces, or changing the way you use your appliances. For a link to more energy-saving tips, see Efficiency Vermont's website.

Find Your Average Electricity Usage

To determine the right size tracker for your home or business, the best place to start is with a copy of your electric bill to estimate your average yearly electricity consumption. Many utilities show your prior 12 months usage on each bill. An AllEarth Renewables representative will gladly help you interpret your bill during the site assessment process.

The Right Size for You

We suggest sizing your tracker to meet less than your total annual electricity usage. That's because Vermont's net-metering law does not require the electric utility to pay you if your AllSun tracker produces more electricity than you consume. While you can run your meter backwards and receive credit for up to 12 months through net-metering, if you do not use that electricity after one year, it is forfeited to your electric utility.
