Vermont has three major electric utility companies and many locally owned electric utilities that serve smaller parts of the state. The service areas for these utilities never overlap, so Vermont customers do not generally have a choice among utility providers. The State’s net-metering laws require that each electric utility allow its customers to connect their own generating devices to the grid, and allow their electricity bills to be offset by the amount of electricity generated.

The Power of Renewable Energy

The value of this net-metered power to you is directly dependent on the electric rates set by your specific utility. In Vermont, this can range from 13 to 17 cents per kilowatt-hour. The more expensive the power, the more valuable the net-metered power generated by your AllSun Tracker. Each utility structures its rates differently, so it is important to contact an AllEarth Renewables representative who will help you find out exactly how much you are paying for electricity and what your savings will be with your utility’s net metering program.

Solar GMP helps with Return on Investment (ROI)

In July 2008, Green Mountain Power (GMP) began a unique and groundbreaking program for customers within their service area called Solar GMP. This renewable energy program pays customers with grid-connected solar electric systems $.06 per kilowatt-hour for electricity that is fed back to the grid. This payment is in addition to the net-metering credit you would receive on your monthly electric bill with an AllSun Tracker.
